Welcome to the Bryon DeVore Photography blog. This space is a place for me to keep in touch with clients, post new work and to share bits about how I go about things here with the photography business. I generally post a few photos from each session, but after a few years of keeping this blog, I know that counting on me to be consistent or regular in any way is probably not going to work out well for anyone. I love to hear from visitors so please drop me an e-mail and be sure to come visit me on Facebook!

SOU Preschool

Also my ninth year with the SOU Preschool. I'm not sure what they put in the water over there, but every year this is one of the most pleasant and happy groups of little people. Always a pleasure.

The Siskiyou School... here we go again.

Year 9 for Fall photographs at the Siskiyou School. We had perfect weather in late September when most of these were done. I take so many photographs of each child that it's inevitable that I end up with some offbeat pictures that always end up being some of my favorites.

Bandon Wedding

Only my second beach wedding. Living in a valley... what a pleasure to get to work with the big open spaces of the ocean and it's unique light.

Some things really are black and white.

Over the past few years, I've found my work boiling down and simplifying. What I'm drawn to is clarity and focus in my portraits, those that have a clear answer to the question, "what is the point of this photograph?" The ones I like best, of mine anyways, are unambiguous. One way to reduce a photograph to this essence that I'm after is to convert it to black and white.

Here are a handful of black and white photographs from this past month.
